SARAH Inc. Signs Up As a Chapter Member of The Arc of Connecticut
This July, SARAH Inc. became a local Chapter Member with The Arc of Connecticut. As a local Chapter of The Arc of Connecticut, SARAH Inc. will also be a member of the national parent agency The Arc. We are excited to add our history and experience to a larger collective. Our partnership with The Arc of Connecticut offers access to more resources and information from agencies throughout the State. Being an affiliate with The Arc, we now contribute to delivering over $100 million in jobs and supports to thousands of individuals in more than 160 towns. Moving forward, this partnership will benefit the continued growth and success of our agency and similar agencies looking to make a positive impact on the lives of those with disabilities.
The Arc of Connecticut is an advocacy organization committed to protecting the rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and promoting opportunities for their full inclusion in their communities. They provide access to information and resources needed throughout a person’s life. As a community-based organization they work with individuals and their families throughout the State. Their collaboration with various community members contributes to their far-reaching success.
SARAH Inc. was founded in 1957, when three families with children with differing abilities witnessed little to no opportunities or resources for their children. With a strong determination for change, they each contributed $2 to ensure their children, as well as other children, had the resources they deserved. Over the last 60+ years we continue to be a person-centered agency serving hundreds of children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or delays and their families. We have one of the largest Birth to Three program in Connecticut providing supports in 50 towns, while also providing in-home, day support, transitional, and employment services to adults ages 21 and older.
Partnering with The Arc gives our agency the ability to share our mission with more families than ever before. It is important to continue offering the high-quality services we are known for to families in Connecticut, especially during these uncertain times. We feel confident that this new partnership will be advantageous for those we serve, their families, and all of us at SARAH Inc.
