SARAH Recycles News Update

SARAH RECYCLES: With Your Can…We Can!!

Westbrook, CT, September 20, 2017 – As previously announced, SARAH Inc. will permanently shut its doors at its East Haven Redemption Center, 690 Foxon Rd. on Sept. 29. While the Redemption Center will close, SARAH Inc. Recycles is still in business – working to protect the environment.

SARAH Recycles is an innovative work program with a “green” approach to provide jobs for people with differing abilities. SARAH supported workers collect donated refundable bottles and cans from recycling bins located throughout area.

“We turn every nickel into jobs,” says SARAH, Inc. Executive Director Pat Bourne. “Please don’t confuse the closing of the redemption center with SARAH Recycles. SARAH Recycles has grown tremendously since its humble beginning and the support of our local communities has been outstanding.”

SARAH Recycles now processes over one million units each year.  SARAH, Inc. is always looking to expand its recycling efforts by collaborating with municipalities, local businesses and other groups on a variety of “green” projects.

SARAH Recycles has established a partnership with the Redemption Center of America/West Haven at 163 Boston Post Road. Rick Ross, owner and operator of the Redemption Center of America/ West Haven, has arranged to have the SARAH Recycles teams sort and process the material they collect at his West Haven Center.

“It’s a good business decision,” said Ross. “SARAH Recycles will bring increased business to our processing center and the SARAH Recycles teams are proven to be dedicated and hard workers.  This is a win-win for all of us.”

“We need the community’s continued support,” says Bourne. “Instead of leaving your refundable bottles and cans at the curb, you can bring them to one of the nearly 20 SARAH Recycles collection bins located throughout our service area. Or you can process your refundable bottles and cans at the Redemption Center of America in West Haven. You will still get your nickel while supporting one of our business partners. Either way, you are helping to provide jobs for people with differing abilities.”
